1 out of 5 stars Creative Couldn't Care Less   December 5, 2008

Beware of Creative customer care.

I recently contacted them with a problem with my MP3 player.

Basically, although it worked fine and was fully loaded with my whole music and video collection, I couldn't add any further content to it.

Customer care took me through a diagnostic process which ended with a instructions to completely reformat the machine, stripping it of its operating system.

I e-mailed them to say I was nervous of doing this, but they insisted it was necessary and that if it didn't work I'd be invited to send the unit in for repair or replacement.

When I took the fateful step and lost everything they informed me that I was out of warranty and they wanted 60 to repair it (even though they had known my purchase date and had a copy of my Amazon receipt from the beginning).

As this unit can now be bought for about this amount I had no option but to bin it.

Result, no player, 4500 tracks and dozens of films lost forever.

If they had told me the cost of repair before pushing me to reformat I could have made and informed decision.

Do not trust their advice, in fact if I were you I'd buy elsewhere!

I've had this case for three weeks now and its already falling too bits. When opened the rim over the top edge of the play is not stiched on, its glued on. Also starting to crack on the outside where it bends, its plastic not leather people. Very poor.

5 out of 5 stars Pretty good official Creative Zen X-Fi case   November 22, 2008

I'd recommend this to anyone with a Zen X-Fi.

It has easy magnetic closure which keeps the cover on and the Zen secure inside. Most of the player is protected, only the speaker, on/off switch and USB/headphone sockets are left exposed.

The cover flap is stiffened for extra protection and can be used to stand the Zen on a surface (see pictures) although it can't easily tilt the Zen to a more convenient viewing angle like some cases.

It is well made and looks durable, more so than some other cases I've seen. All the buttons are accessible while the Zen is in the case but it's not as easy to operate the right hand buttons. All of the screen is visible when in the case.

For extra safety I also carry my X-Fi and case in a bag which came with my Zen Micro, so that's still useful for something. So you might wish to consider something like this to keep the case in good condition.

The only annoying aspect is that removing the Zen from the case completely while listening requires unplugging the headphones momentarily as they are passed through an opening in the side. This is true for a lot of players and cases though.

All in all good value for money.

5 out of 5 stars Pretty good stuff   October 18, 2008

Well leather cases don't have to do much but this does just fine. My x-fi 8gb fits in perfectly and slides in and out when needed to without any faffing around. Al necessary sockets are accessable without removing the player from the case. There is no belt loop and the cover flap closes and is held by mild magnets. There is not a clear plastic sheet covering the screen but the suede finish inside the case should prevent any serious scratches.

Buttons are easy to push while in the case
