Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.co.uk Review
Theme parks bring out the kid in all of us, so a game based on the magical Hollywood experience of Universal Studios should have you cracking open the candyfloss in anticipation. Unfortunately Kemco, the makers of Universal Studios Theme Park Adventure, have opted for all the frustrations--long walks, long queues, overflowing with rubbish--and none of the fun of the fair.

Firstly, this isn't really a game; it's an interactive studio tour with some mini-games thrown in. You're let loose in the park with a map and basically have to find the eight "rides", play each one's mini-game, earn a stamp and some points, swap the points for some merchandising tat and that's it. Oh no, sorry, that's not it: you also have to pick up rubbish that other visitors have dropped (for extra points) and shake hands with people dressed in huge animal costumes.

The first problem is finding the rides; the map is worse than useless and you spend a lot of time running back and forth between the dull backgrounds with only your community service as bin man to alleviate the boredom. Once you find a ride you often find that the queue is too long and you need a special cap to get access--but frankly don't bother as the "games" are at best mediocre and at worst tedious and overlong. The Waterworld ride, for example, basically just rewards you with the opportunity to see a plane crash-land in a pool from (drum roll please) five different angles.

The second problem is that you can't really see who this is aimed at. Kids will find it too frustrating--one of the mini-games in particular is a film quiz with such questions as "who directed The Thing?", and since when has John Carpenter been suitable viewing for pre-teens? Adults will find it duller than a seaside pier on a wet weekend. Top it off with poor graphics, banal sound and less longevity than a Eurovision song, and you have what is probably one of the worst "games" on the platform. --Kristen Bowditch

1 out of 5 stars Words can not describe how bad this is! But I'm gonna try anyway.   February 21, 2008

Quite simply, this game is awful. Wanna know why? How long have you got? Actually, it wont take that long for me to describe, all I need to say is "The mini games are crap." and thats about all there is for me to say about it. There's nothing else bad about the game, but only because the mini games are all there is to the game. Avoid, under all circumstances.

Well this has to be the worst game in the history of time and space. You start in a courtyard with a large UNIVERSAL sign behind you. You have no idea what to do, but then again there isn't really all that much to do. It's a waste of space on your memory card, and all that saves is the "hats" you get, which let you go on a ride for free. But if you turn it off, and start again, you can go on any ride for free at the beginning! There are quizes to "play" which require such obscure knowledge that they made me suicidal. It's OK, because you can play it again anyway. Then there are the rides. You don't really play these either. The E.T. ride did pose me some difficulty, as you have to
know where exactly where on your controller, the analogue stick is.

This game isn't the best game you will ever play, it probably wont even be second best. But what this game is, is a good all round fun variety game. There is alot of things to do and tasks to complete. I enjoyed the game and it made a refreshing change from all the usual beat em ups and shoot em ups.

This would suit someone looking for a different game with a bit of variety and no violence.

I have just 4 words...Don't buy this game. Don't feel tempted by the licensed name on the front, it is really not worth getting. The graphics are slow, and the polygon count is minimal. The textures aren't any better, and the challenges are all repetetitive and very boring. After fifteen minutes on this game i switched it off. I havn't played it since. In fact, i took it back to the shop. Oh well, at least it means that i don't have to look at it anymore. So press the 'back' button on your browser now before you accidentally buy it. Do it, do it now!
