essential gaming equipment ! November 5, 2008 Mr. A. J. Peers (wirral) Well what can i say. first of all delivery was pleasently quick big thanks to Amazon ordered on Friday morning and they turned up the following Monday hooked them up to my t.v and x-box straight away.Initial impressions were a bit bulky on the head at first (i looked like an air line pilot) but you soon forget this once you power these beauties up like a lot of reviewers of these head phones my first test subject was cod4.WOW! just try team death match with the M4 CARBINE its amazing i then played on the creek map hiding in the loft of a bombed out house with a sniper rifle you can hear every creek of the wood and the haunting whisle of the wind as you lie in wait. These are a MUST for f p s fans and set up took less than 3 minutes if your serious about your shooters buy these you wont regret it. once again big thanks to Amazon.
Beware. Not as good as they should be. October 13, 2008 M. Cook (UK) 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
I bought my X1s because I like to game at night but still have the volume loud. First impressions were good. The actual headset is well made and the arm that holds the microphone is sturdy and can be posed in any position, or swivelled away from the face if you don't want to talk. But I have the following problems with the X1. 1. They get uncomfortably hot after a while. The ear cups don't allow your ears to breath. I have other non-gaming headphones for music and they can be worn for hours in full comfort. I find my ears need a break before my eyes with the X1s. 2. The sound quality is poor, especially if you are using a wired controller, or are charging your wireless controller while playing. I found a constant hissing noise to be present if my controller was physically attached to my 360. Even when playing wirelessly the sound, while pleasantly bass-heavy for explosions and the like, loses many higher frequencies compared to dedicated music headphones. 3. Now this is the WORST problem. It is very, very easy to damage the X1s by accident. Because the cable that comes with it is so long, other people or yourself can easily accidentally trip or catch it. A common problem is to unknowingly sit on the cable and then try stand up. If this happens, there is no safety mechanism to detach the cord - it will either pull the headphones off your head, out of the headphone socket on your TV or hi-fi or permanantly damage the headset. My Sony music headphones with a similar length cord detach below the ear should you accidentally snag the cord, saving damage to the headset. I don't feel I can recommend the X1s. Buy if you have no other choice, but beware.
Nice! October 1, 2008 G. Miller (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Ended up getting these for 35 at Game web site. Anyhow they are easy to set up , very very comfortable and do what they say on the box. The sound quality is fine ( not amazing but fine ) and the mic works well , altho you cant hear yourself speak sometimes as both your ears are covered. All in all a worthy purchase. COD4 here I come!
Worth the money August 20, 2008 L. Major (Merseyside, England) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
After exhaustive research, I decided to buy the X1's based on the fact that they are cheap, not wireless (I already have enough batteries to recharge) and recommended by many. I have owned my pair for two days now and I feel I am ready to give my opinion on them. I first tried them on GTA IV by putting on 'Hysteria' by Muse and driving round in a mean-sounding muscle car. I have to say that at first, I was a little underwhelmed. I didn't like the way the microphone ends up over the middle of your mouth as opposed to the side of it on a standard headset. I was also put off by the huge amount of bass produced by the amplifier. But the more I played, the more I started picking up subtle details which my ordinary TV speakers would never be able to detect. If you don't like bass, these headphones aren't for you. But after a while I got used to it and realised that they only really use bass when it's needed. The more mid-range, less dynamic sounds come through clearly, like a car backing into another at low speed in GTA IV. I tried them on Halo 3 and got a greater sense of how they distribute sound; what was once 'distant gunfire' is now 'sounds like they're near the sword' if you catch my drift. They're even more useful in that sense on Call of Duty 4. So the game sound is good. It's not surround sound, but you can tell where the sound is coming from and the sound itself is good, which is fine for 45 if you ask me. But of course, these headphones also incorporate Live Chat, which is sometimes just as crucial to hear as in-game sound. I have to be honest, the voices aren't as clear as they are with my standard Xbox Live wired headset. The bass makes the voices sound more 'boomy' and this can make those with deep voices harder to understand at times. BUT, you can have the voice volume higher than you can with a regular headset and the voices go to both ears instead of one. Overall, the wired headset is better for hearing voices but it's not a huge difference. As for the mic, my friends have all told me that I sound exactly the same as I did with my wired headset. I'm not pretending these headphones are perfect, but try standing underneath an airstrike on CoD4 with these on and tell me you aren't impressed. If you don't like lots of bass, some wires or stereo sound then don't buy these headphones. If you don't mind any of those things, and want a cheap, comfortable solution to playing quietly at night then you should buy these headphones. Build Quality 5/5: They feel light but sturdy. In-game sound 4/5: Never again will you say 'where is that guy shooting from?' Voice chat sound 3/5: Not as clear as the standard wired headset, but still fine most of the time. Ease of use 5/5: Super easy to set up and start playing. Value for money 5/5: Definitely worth the cash. Overall: 4/5

Brilliant. A must for any parent whos wishes their kids to enjoy the expensive xbox that you spent your hard earned money on. Total peace and quiet.Tried them on myself and the sound is fantastic. means i can watch corrie without any interuption - well except for the odd swearing that come from him because he was killed or the race car he's controlling crashed.Thinks he's saying those words quietly, but, not. Recommend to any gamer- BIG TIME. Well worth the money. 100%
