It's easy to see why there was so much fighting amongst the console manufacturers to try and make this game a format exclusive. Where early launch titles may have disappointed this game not only looks like a next generation game but it plays like it too. Taken at face value the story casts you as an Arabic fighter in 1191, out to assassinate the nine Western leaders of the Third Crusade. There is more to the story than that though making it more than simple historical adventure it first seems.

Since it's developed by many of the same team behind Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, it's no surprise to find the game using many of the same ideas. With the bold claim that you can climb on or over anything in the game world that sticks out more than two inches, this allows incredible freedom of movement, with a style of acrobatics heavily influenced by Parkour/free running. The game also innovates in terms of combat, with each of the face buttons controlling a different area of the body, rather like a marionette. As such one button controls the feet, one your open hand, one your weapon hand and the other your head.

As an assassin stealth plays an important role in the game too, but here it's often a case of hiding in plain sight as you mill around inside large crowds of people. Everyone will react to you realistically though, so if you go around pushing people out of the way, or even killing them, the crowd will react and report you. With stunning graphics and genuinely innovative gameplay this is destined to be one of the most important releases of the year.

3 out of 5 stars An experience worth trying.   November 23, 2008

Yes, Assassin's Creed is repetitive and lacks gameplay inspiration, but I wouldn't trade anything for the sheer graphical splendour of sitting atop one of those towers and pressing that 'synchronise' button. The sense of awe at imagining yourself in that time and place (ficticious it maybe) is really something. No game can transport you somewhere quite so vividly.

But yes, the gameplay is far from inspired, so - 3 stars.

when i bought this game last christmas i was excited at first but the game is truley rubbish. there is this stupd sideplot where you are in the futre and you unlock your ansestors memories. there are long cut scenes which you cannot skip you turn the game on you hvae to go through about 3 to even play it! whne you finally do plsy it the game is repetetive and boring.
DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5 out of 5 stars the best historical game ever   November 14, 2008

firstly it has a story line beyond killing random people(possibly one of the few games to do so).Secondly the graphics are incredible and are the best example of how much better the new consoles are than the old ones. thirdly the controls are easy to master and it comes with a helpful tutorial at the start. Finally its fun to play, i got it around january 2008 and even now i still play it sometimes and enjoy it.
The only slight downside is that it doesn't have online play, but aside from that it is a superb game which i would recommend you buy.(possibly not from this sight as you can get it in game for around 30).

4 out of 5 stars First type of it's game!!!   November 6, 2008

I bought this off a friend and my first impressions were amazing.

I thought it was very entertaining being able to climb litterally anything, its so fun i free run and throw guards off buildings for hours. And when fighting: Counter Kills are so cool! You press X while blocking when they attack and you do this awesome set of kills.

There is only 2 bad things. There is too much talk at the beggining and it gets boring if you play it all the time for a month. (and there's no multiplayer)

Gameplay - 5/5
Cool Features - 5/5
Graphics - 4/5
Fighting - 4.5/5

If you have an xbox (or PS3)this is a must buy and are missing one of the most fun games ever. And dont let the negative points put you off.
AMAZING!

3 out of 5 stars Fun but boring...   October 17, 2008

Right, to start off at the beginning it's a great story line of the Animus ect but after the first few assignments it becomes a little annoying like when you are being chased when you try to run up a wall you end up kicking back off the wall into your pursuers then they beat your head inside out. Also the missions becom a little boring as as the game gets near to it's end it all seems to be about killing large groups of enemys which can be very tricky and frustraiting at times depending on your enemies i.e Groups of Templar like guards are harder than trained citerzens.
Overall I think that it is a good game but it could use some improvements like controlling Altier's acrobaticts and free-running. Also I think that if a second Assasin's Creed they should try not to make it as repetative as the game progresses.
