one of the best games of all time! October 10, 2008 Mr. J. D. Blowers (UK) dont read anyones comment who doesnt give this game a 5 star rating. the graphics in this game is the best iv seen in a FPS. the variation of the maps and missions keeps u hooked. and the online play beats any game hands down, it is sooooo addictive. bring on COD 5- world at war!!!!!!!!! xxx
It was too easy October 4, 2008 Cybus (UK Manchester) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I don't claim to be brilliant at these games. Men of Valor on the old xbox took me what felt like an eternity to complete and I hoped that this title would be equally as challenging. However, it took such a short time to complete. My expectations were for this to be far more difficult and challenging to get to the end. It wasn't. I felt a bit let down it. I hope the next offering in this series will be better
COD 5 STARS ALL THE WAY! September 24, 2008 Frosty 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
When call of duty 4 first came out on the 9thof November 2007 (5th of November for the U.S) there was already an abundance of FPS's (first person shooters) on the market. Rainbow six Vegas and Halo3 were just two of the tough competitors that COD4 was up against. The new instalment of the long running Call of Duty series has proved to be a great success after trading its WW2 theme and storyline's for a more modern approach to life in the front line. The new additions to the game really make COD4 stand out from all other games on the market. Perks are one of these additions that really add to the personalized experience of the game. Choose you clan tag when playing multiplayer online. Play as U.S marines and the SAS in single player as well as terrorists in multiplayer. Create different weapon class's ranging from shotgun's to sniper's, Assault rifles to sub-machineguns. With these weapons you can also call on three perks to help you. One of the most helpful perks is martyrdom (drop a live grenade when killed) and bandolier (increased ammo capacity). This is a list of all the perks: Perk 1: * Bomb Squad (see where enemy's have planted explosives) * C4 x 2 (C4 with handheld trigger) * Claymore x 2 ( trip mines) * RPG-7 x 2 * Special Grenades x 3 * Frag x 3 * Bandolier (increased ammo capacity) Perk 2: * Juggernaut(More Health) * Sleight of hand(Reload quicker) * Stopping power(More weapon damage) * UAV Jammer(Jams enemy radar) * Sonic Boom (Higher damage from your explosives) * Double Tap( Higher rate of fire) Perk 3: * Extreme conditioning(Sprint longer) * Steady Aim(Steadier aiming) * Last Stand(pull out your pistol before dying) * Deep Impact(Better bullet penetration through walls) * Dead Silence(Less noise when running) * Iron Lungs(Hold breath longer when sniping) * Eavesdrop(Allows you to listen in on enemy chat) * Martyrdom(Drop a live grenade when killed) The creators at activision have really pulled out all the stops when creating this truly amazing piece of graphic engineering, helped by the new dynamic spotlight and shadow technology. Of all the First person shooter games I have played this is truly the best. Stunning vision, sound and overall game play. This game is a MUST BUY!! Great single player missions but online play is the main selling point for this game.
Amazing? No. August 13, 2008 Pigsworthy (UK) 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
O.K shooting mechanics, boring graphics,it lacks any unique stlye and no online achievements. Fast paced but ultimately nothing here that's superior to Gears of War.
Great Continuation of the Call of Duty Franchise July 22, 2008 MrShev (Gloucestershire, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this solely on the strength of Call of Duty 1 which I played on the Mac and decided to buy this on the 360 because of recommendations. I was a little worried that the feeling of the Call of Duty (the idea of not fighting alone, of being part of a battle and great multiplayer) would be lost in a modern warfare enviroment. It turns out that I was wrong. The Good: - The single player campaign is amazing, exciting and occassionally shocking. I like that completing it unlocks multiplayer content - clever. The missions are well realised and some are just awesome (the sniper mission to be exact) - Multiplayer is just brilliant, with a rank system and reward system that keeps you coming back for more. Good players get rewarded and camping is hard. All game modes are fun and I play COD4 multiplayer more than any other game. Xbox live is still one of the best online services on any system - IMO. - Graphics and game design are top notch and even multiplayer is pretty to look at. Some of the environments are almost hyper-real and firefights really do feel frenetic - especially with 5.1. The Bad: - Single player is way too short. I am, at best, an average player and I completed it in a couple of days. That sucks. - No vehicles. I personally find vehicles in multiplayer annoying, but I can see that they can be fun. - No peaking around corner or blind-firing. Most tactical shooters have these as an options and even COD1 and 2 had the ability to peak around corners. Come on Infinity Ward, keep up! Overall, I love this game. But the single player is way too short and there are some little omissions from MP that could have made it great.
