Be the Next Great Songwriter

Music Studio lets players express their musical creativity by giving them access to a full complement of tools to create digital music from scratch utilizing the guitar controller and drum kit. Players can create their tracks and then play them in-game or share the recordings with the entire Guitar Hero community through GHTunes. GHTunes allows other gamers from around the world to download and play the community's original tracks.

Create the Band

Budding rock stars can live out their rock ?n’ roll fantasies by playing either a single instrument or any combination of instruments, in addition to the full band experience. When rocking as part of a band, up to four players can jam together in quickplay or as they progress through a career. Both band and single-player careers feature non-linear progression giving artists the option to change difficulty and instruments with a variety of different gigs available at any time.

Never Jam Solo Again

Virtual musicians in need of band mates can take their careers online forming worldwide ensembles so no rock star ever has to play a gig solo. Plus, GHWT adds a "Battle of the Bands" modes, which allows eight players to join online and challenge each other band-to-band to establish global supremacy.

A Game Play Mode Just for the Wii

Jump into the "Mii Freestyle" game play mode that is unique to the Wii. Create Blues, Rock or Metal masterpieces by yourself, or join with friends to jam freely together on guitar controllers and the drum kit controller.

Customize Everything

The character creator allows gamers to create a rock star with style as unique as their own. Absolute customization from the clothes, to the facial and body structure, to the tattoos and accessories, players are encouraged to unleash their inner rock legend. The Rock Star Creator doesn't just allow players to build the ultimate rock god; the in-depth creators include the ability to customize guitars, drums and microphones. Adding yet another layer of personalization, gamers can create custom logos for their instruments, band, or album covers.

A Set List for the Ages

The Guitar Hero World Tour set list is comprised entirely of master recordings from some of the greatest artists of all-time including Van Halen, Linkin Park, The Eagles, and Sublime. If you have played guitar hero before....its the same gameplay but with a whole lot of GREAT SONGS! Adding a mic or drums adds great play. Great family/friend fun for all ages.

Okay... if you have liked GH this far... you will LOVE this. I love that they have so many new song all in one collection. The set list is AWESOME. GH 1, GH 2, Rock the 80's, I beat in an afternoon, and loved every minute of it. This one just has too many songs and most are great. BUY IT!... You WILL thank me later.

4 out of 5 stars Great set list!   December 25, 2008

Guitar Hero is a blast! I got the game only, because I already have two guitars. I figured I can add the mic and drums later if I want. This version of Guitar Hero has an awesome list of songs, with a lot more variety than previous installments. I look forward to enjoying it more!

1 out of 5 stars This game brought to you by Mel Karmazin and some music execs   December 23, 2008

My wife, brother, and I all spent hours and hours playing GH3 on the Wii. Few games have matched it in terms of pure addiction. We have RB and RB2 for the XBox as well, and both are also a ton of fun. However, this game is terrible.

Recently Sirius and XM merged, and the result was channel lineup rearrangements that removed all of the good niche music. It was replaced by 50 channels that all play the same top 40 music within a specific genre. So instead of a wide variety of music throughout a genre, you get a block of the same 40 top songs within each genre. Presumably the music is newer and hotter on the charts. It is repulsive though.

This game is the video game equivalent of that. A bunch of music execs got in a room and picked the "best" music. What you get is a setlist which is 90% garbage. Example- Oasis sold like a million records in the 90s despite being a horrible, talentless band. While the RB and previous GH teams know not to include one of their most horrible songs on their games, it appears on this one. Jimi Hendrix, one of the greatest musicians ever appears on this game twice. Too bad they are 2 of the most boring made-for-radio songs he ever produced.

What's more is that even the decent songs are repeated from the RB or RB2 set lists, and are often more fun to play on that game. My wife, brother, and I got this last night and fired it up with much excitement. We forced ourselves to play for about an hour before giving up. We're planning to take it right to EBGames this weekend to sell it for $15.

This game is a total failure. I would give it 0 stars if I could. Save your money.

Unfortunately, this game fell well short of my expectations. I bought GH3 for my wife, and both of us loved it. So when this came out, we were really looking forward to it. But it quite honestly just isn't as fun.

Pros:
-Drums and vocals which allow for more people to join in on the action
-Features galore, creating your own character, mixing your own song, etc...

Cons:
-Song selection is focused more on slow-tempo items, which for us are not as fun to play. It's much more enjoyable to play "Cliffs of Dover" (GH3) than it is to play "Love Me 2 Times" (GHWT)
-As others have mentioned, you have to play a whole set instead of playing just a song or two

I think that it really comes down to your taste in music. GH2 and GH3 were more metal/punk, whereas this one tends to be more classic rock (it's not ALL classic rock, but it has more than its share). Also, the previous GH's each had a couple of songs that I dreaded playing, but this one has a larger proportion of terrible songs.
