Simply DOES NOT WORK! January 8, 2009 Rainy Storm (California, USA) I needed a 2-in-1-out switch to conenct 2 sources to my one receiver input. For the price, I figured I'd take the chance. but the problem is, it simply does not work. I tried all permutations, even when I only plug in one wire each side, using it as an extender, it still doesnt work, and I tried both directions! I do not know how it works for some people out there, but for me, this product is completely useless.
Does not work - Waste of time and money December 12, 2008 Psoup1965 (Oregon) This splitter does not work. It will not transfer sound in any direction to any device. Transfers the red signal light ok (visually), but nothing else. Do not waste your money. You know what they say, if it is too good to be true then it usually is. I am having to find another means to connect all my components since I am shy on the optical inputs for my amp.
This Item Does Work - Here Are Some Trouble Shooting Tips September 15, 2008 Timothy T. (USA) If you are thinking of purchasing this item, or happen to already own one. Here are some tips to have this working perfectly the first time. -First, if you are splitting 1 item into 2 destinations or 2 sources into 1 amp (works both ways), use the SHORTEST optical cables possible with your set-up 3' optical cables will be combined to make over 6'. -Second, if you are putting 2 sources into 1 amp, only have 1 source on at a time. Should be common knowledge, but just in case it wasn't thought of :) - If Signal seems to drop - hold splitter, and grab optical cord by the finger holds, make sure it is firmly seated in socket - bend to left, right, up, down slowly with little force. Does the signal improve in any of the 4 directions? Try pushing both the source and destination ends to test. - If Signal continues to drop - Try different cables - The most expensive isn't always the answer. - your amplifier may be the problem - hence, shorter wires to keep signal strength. This unit works for me. I used it to patch a XBox 360 and Playstation 2 into my Pioneer amplifier. Works PERFECT!!!
Did Not Work in Any Setup August 30, 2008 C. Dubuque (Tampa, FL) I was going to use this item as a 2 into 1 setup with a DVR and Xbox360 going into my receiver. Did not work. I tried to use the unit as a simple pass through to see if it even worked. No good. I could get no signal to pass through. Complete Junk.....Cost of shipping item back to get a $3 refund made no sense. Item already sleeps with the fishes.......
Exactly what I wanted August 27, 2008 Stephen R. Mance (Lawrence, KS) This product went over and above my expectations. I have digital audio in both my computer and my DVD player. I plugged each input into this splitter and the output to my stereo. The splitter was able to use the audio from my computer, then when the DVD player was on, switch to the DVD. This has the effect of having one side as a MAIN, where if digital audio is detected on the MAIN, it will pass that through, no matter whether or not anything is plugged into the secondary. So, if you connect this side to something you only have on when you want to hear audio through, it works wonderfully.
