If you find a pair of these used, buy them! December 28, 2008 SS I got these for $20 from a guy on craigslist two years ago and they still sound fantastic. With a few tweaks, they have a really nice, surprisingly balanced sound. You should turn the the bass level on the back of the subwoofer all-the-way-down otherwise the bass can be a bit boomy. My brother-in-law tweaked his EQ settings in iTunes to boost the treble but I don't think it is necessary. I don't think I've ever gotten a better deal on anything in my life!
Logi-cal choice November 12, 2008 Jerry L. Murray 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I can rock with these units. My wife tells me to close the PC room door, and then to turn them down. At $35, what a steal. Great crystal clear high end and powerful bass. The mids somewhat fall out, but the hi-lo blend compensates. "Logi" rocks.
Excellent Speakers, Perfect Sound Quality November 1, 2008 Robert The Geek (California, USA) I bought these speakers over a year ago, and they still sound as great as they did the first time I used them with my computer. This excellent 2.1 system has powerful, distortion-free bass and prestine sound quality even at the highest volume levels. This is the best value that exists in a 2.1 system, and I highly recommend the Logitech X-230 speakers for anyone who recognizes a good sound system, and a and good value.
A Little Disappointed! October 20, 2008 S. Haggard (Scottsdale, AZ USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
In the end, I'm fairly happy with these speakers. The problem is that they look and sound nice enough to trick you into thinking they are worth much more than you pay for them. The fact is, like many others, my set had the air tube broken loose inside the sub woofer enclosure. I tried pulling the tube back into place, but it was so loose I knew that it would fall out again with the vibration, this is a sub woofer after all! So I spent a couple of hours trying to figure out the best way into the enclosure to get a better idea on how I would solve the problem. In the end, I pried off the speaker grill and unscrewed six screws, then the woofer lifted right out. I was shocked to see the shoddy glue job at both ends of the cardboard air tube. I used electrical tape to secure both ends. The front was real tricky because it's very tight space and you're reaching through a 6-inch round hole. I've had the speakers for a year, but just finally took them out to set them up today, so I don't know how long they will last. All I can do is hope. Another gripe I have is that one of the satellite speakers has a small tear in the (nylon?) mesh covering the speakers. It looks minor, but I bought the speakers brand new, so it shouldn't have any tears. Plus it's something I'll have to watch out for, not to aggravate the tear. In my opinion, the problem with the air tube completely undermines the overall craftsmanship. Logitech makes nice stuff, but they must have outsourced the glue guy to some drunk schmuck with a bottle of Elmer's and a Bic lighter. Real sad. Anyway, I gave 2 stars. I would have given 1 star if I wasn't able to get into the box and tape up the air tube. I would have given it 5 stars had it not been for that problem in the first place. If you are slightly handy, by all means get these speakers, they will be a good value. But if you like your products to be perfect out of the box, don't take your chances. Too many people have reported the same problems with the air tube. Good luck!
Five stars for value, a dollar per watt, Heavy Bass October 14, 2008 C. Ashley (USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Two years with this system and I think I know what it can do. It is just the thing for those rocket explosions and jet takeoffs. Gaming is the mode here although it is not bad for general use either. Be warned, the mid-range suffers slightly if you have a critical ear. But for 33 dollars, this is a well built 32 watt RMS system which is Heavy on the Bass, and quite good overall. This system is a vast improvement over the little speakers that come with some computers, or for that matter over many comperable add-on systems. You can use an equalizer, either your PC software, or an software add on to get better results. Although some of the midrange is lacking, using the equalizer "smoothing" control helps a great deal, If you see one of these and need a general purpose amp, or gaming amp, snap it up. It is better than the newer Logitech systems such as the x240. Be warned, it can rock your house with all that bass and sub-bass. Altogether, it is alot of bang for the buck.
