Belkin January 7, 2009 Aubrey W. Hall Sr. Belkin range extender model # F5D7132 ver 2000 is not compatable with my VISTA operating system.
easy to set up January 6, 2009 K. Pahl (AnyTown USA) This was incredibly easy to set up, and it works well with my B-wireless router. The signal isn't as strong as I would have liked it to have been but it definitely boosts the wireless range and speed.

I saw a different companies extender in use but I had more respect for Belkin. Bought it to find out it wasn't what I needed. I'm sure it is a good product but I got the wrong one for my use.
Not performing as expected January 5, 2009 D. Houghton (western colorado) I get a weak wireless signal at my cabin, about 300 yards from my neighbor's place. He's okay with me using his wireless signal, I just needed to boost it. The unit first boosted the correct signal, but even though I had the password and everything set up I could not access the internet. He replaced his wireless router with one that didn't have password protection. I thought this would make it work, but now the Belkin unit is grabbing a different wireless signal, one that again doesn't work for me. I can't control which signal it boosts. Talking with their support was frustrating (poor english) and didn't solve the problem. It now sits unused until I can muster the energy to dive back into problem-solving mode.
Easy Secured Setup December 31, 2008 P. KNUTSON 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I read most of the reviews here and tried to follow directions but failed even though I have set up lots of routers and computers. Finally, I called Belkin and had it up and running in no more than 10 minutes. Below is my memory of what we did to make it happen. How to set up Belking Wireless Range Extender Call Belkin 877-736-5771-1-3-4 Plug in extender and connect cable to XP computer. Internet Options, LAN, Properties, TCIP, Properties. Set static IP Address 192.168.2.50 TAB to set 255.255.255.0 Click OK. IE 192.168.2.254 + ENTER Belkin web page comes up Click Basic, select Extend option, and do site survey. Select your router SSID and enter WEP or WPA code. Apply changes and wait for extender to reboot. Extender and router must have the same SSID and security settings for the extender to work with it as an extender. Otherwise, you have created a wireless access point. Internet Options, LAN, Properties, TCIP, Properties Set Auto IP Address and click OK Unplug extender and move it wherever you want it to stay. Check improved signal strength with a wireless computer. Complete Extender works fine, but has to be occasionally rebooted by unplugging and pluggin it back in.
