Good for the price January 6, 2009 Kim R. Anderton (Roosevelt, Ut) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
well we bought it at gamestop for like 70 dollars and we didnt pay for it because i i traded in all or my old games and got it free. when we opened it i was unaware it came with a cd and it took me a while to figure it out so please check the box and read the directions carefully! i put the cd in to my computer that uses vista it obviously works on vista so dont listen to the other reviewer that says it doesnt. after setting it up, whitch was easy after reading the instructions i hooked it into my xbox 360 and it took a couple of tries to connect but when it did it was all good also dont listen to the other reviewers that say that they called microsoft and they said its not compatible, because it is obviously compatible because it is MADE FOR XBOX 360 its just microsofts way of wanting you to buy THEIR product. the connection speed is good and i love that uses ethernet because i can plug my xbox 360 controller charger while using this. i have had it for a month and for some reason it wouldnt connect(today a month later...) so i hit the reset button on the back, connected it to the computer again and redid the setup which is only pushing the next button four times and it works well again. and we are as far away from the modem/router as you can get in our house and it still works reasonably well. pros: cheaper Uses ethernet works on vista good connection Cons: Disconnects every once in a while (usually never durring a game though) Only a "good" connection and kind of bulky and it has two wires one for power outlet and ethernet so its not a clean hook up its a quick and dirty but that doesnt bother me. NOTE: i have not tried the microsoft version wireless adapter so i am only basing this on my expeiriece with wireless computer connection speeds i dont know if it is better or worse but i would have to think the microsoft version is better it is 30 dollars more so please read the reviews of both products before making the purchase. AND READ THE DIRCTION DONT THROW THE DISK AWAY :)
Bit of work, but worth it January 2, 2009 Daniel Hancock (Jefferson City, MO) I read a lot of reviews on this product and was a bit concerned about purchasing. I bit the bullet, because I needed a way to hook up entertainment center items to my wireless network. This adapter was a little difficult to set up, but I've learned that wireless networks are never as easy as advertised, so I was not surprised. Still only took me about a half hour to get up and running. My main goal was to get internet access to my media room components, but didn't want to run wires throughout the house. This product did exactly what I needed. The beauty of this adapter is that it uses ethernet, and can therefore be hooked up to another router and voila, you have multiple items connected to your wireless network. I've got the adapter plugged into a linksys router I had lying around so that now both my Xbox 360 and my Directv receiver are both hooked up to the wireless network. I can add any other components that have an ethernet adapter now by just using a network cable and the appropriate switches/routers. Pros: * Can be used as a wireless access point allowing your wireless signal much more flexibility. Cons: * Setup was a little painful - probably would be frustrating for the first-time networker.
Overall a good option December 30, 2008 R. Gross I actually intended to purchase the Microsoft Wireless adapter but my local computer store was sold out. The guy at the store told me about the Pelican model, said that it worked well but if my modem and my xbox 360 were on different floors, it might have a difficult time going up the stairs or down the stairs to find the wifi signal. Since this wasn't my situation, I decided to give it a try and for $30 bucks less, what did I have to lose? My experience with the set up was actually very smooth. I followed the detail instructions and was up and running in about 15 minutes without a hitch. The modem is only about 10 yards from the xbox so my performance has been strong. My only complaint is that when the xbox has been turned off, and after several hours, it seems that the connection from the adapter to my wireless router is lost. Its an easy fix where I unplug the AC cord from the adapter for about 30 seconds, plug it back in and it finds it again. But overall I give it thumbs up!

I purchased this product used after not wanting to pay $100 buck for MS adapter. The setup was a little confusing but once I got everything working I was completly satisfied. I recommend this product. I paid about $30 bucks and it was well worth it.
im dissappointed December 9, 2008 J. Boger 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I dont know what I'm doing wrong... But umm almost every week I have to redo the set up on this stupid thing. I am really disappointed in my purchase. I paid around 72 dollars for this piece of junk. I dont recommend this item. But I just might not being having luck on with it.
