5 out of 5 stars Wireless, Flawless Gaming   January 6, 2009
Kelley Parker (Waco, TX USA)
This product comes with an Official XBOX 360 Wireless Controller, Driver DVD, and a 5 foot long USB Receiver.

PROS: Many options with the Xbox 360 controller for controls
WIRELESS! It's every gamers dream to own the best controller on the market

CONS: Why five feet long for the USB receiver? the size of a USB Flash Drive is all I need (or anyone for that matter); My controller doesn't turn off, so I have to uninstall the battery back and clip it back in for the controller to stay off (I already tried push and hold the XBOX button down to turn it off and it didn't work)

A little bit more for your information, this controller does NOT have *OFFICIAL* drivers to work on mac, so you will have to look up third-party developers' MAC drivers for the xbox 360 controller (and they work too, trust me). Overall, I don't see why anyone would need a $100 controller to play their games. PS3 and XBOX 360 use controllers just like these (in terms of size) and deliver a fantastic experience.

You'd be doing yourself injustice to pass this controller up.

4 out of 5 stars Works as advertised   January 2, 2009
Matthew Wilhelm (Connecticut)
Installed on a 32-bit XP system. Have to use 3rd party software for some games, but otherwise works perfectly. Switches b/w xbox and pc. Battery life is dubious, but I picked up some Sanyo rechargeable here on Amz and they've taken away most of my headaches.

This thing is more solid than most el cheapo game pads I've used. Worth ponying up the extra $15+ to know that it can take some abuse.

Dongle is retarded, and I'm not entirely convinced that you can't just buy the dongle (~ $18 on amz) and use an existing xbox controller (if you have one), but don't quote me on that.

Have not tried in Vista or xp x64 yet.

5 out of 5 stars People rating this low are liars.   December 24, 2008

Well I was a little put off that the included "battery pack" was supposed to only last for a short period of time, and thus I bought an actual battery pack and charger for it.

Well just to see how long two AA batteries would last I decided to use the included pack until they died.

Well I've got well over 24 hours of play time logged using the controller and it shows no signs of dying. So anyone saying the AA batteries don't last long.....is an outright liar.

I've also had NO connectivity issues (although I don't sit much further than 4-5 feet from the receiver), rumble works in EVERY game that has it, um basically anything people say thats negative about this is wrong.

Of course maybe that's because I'm running a legitimate version of Vista.

If you're still running XP, you have no place to be complaining about support issues, upgrade to the latest OS. If you think it costs too much, why did you buy a computer in the first place? It doesn't cost much to upgrade to vista, or to build a machine that will run it just fine. Shouldn't cost more than $500 in parts just to build a more than adequate machine.

Oh and if you say anything about Vista having driver problems....then you've just admitted to using a pirate copy of Vista. There have been little to no driver issues since just after Vista came out. If you have a pirate copy then you do NOT have the latest updates.

I'd highly recommend this product to any PC gamer.

2 out of 5 stars Microsoft drivers are lame...   December 18, 2008

For those of you that know gamepads, the drivers that MS includes with the gamepad won't allow you to change the triggers (showing it as a "Z" axis) to buttons. So, if you like newer games that have support for this gamepad then go ahead and buy it (because the triggers will work with "Games for Windows" games!) but for older games you will not have the luxury of assigning commands to the triggers...but there is 3rd party software (yes, 3rd party because MS is to cheap to offer better drivers) for the wired 360 controllers to make the triggers as buttons.

I also had to get Service Pack 1 for Vista 64-bit to make the controller work (I have a Logitech G5 mouse and it caused driver conflicts).

5 out of 5 stars No problems at all.   December 6, 2008

I bought this even though I was a bit apprehensive of some reviews that I had read. But I haven't had any problems that some have had. I have a Logitech G15 keyboard and a wireless mouse. My mouse reciever is plugged into the right side USB port on my keyboard and my 360 controller receiver is about 4" away from it. I am able to use my mouse and my 360 controller at the same with no issues. I've never had to reboot to reconnect the controller, I just press the Xbox button and it connects right up anytime after it goes to standby and shuts itself off. I bought the controller with Fallout 3, and since Fallout 3 has a Xbox 360 controller option, I was playing the game right away and had the same convenience of playing on a console.
